Here are some of the news making headlines in May, 2015.

The bridge between Laos and Myanmar was officially opened in May. Following up on last months news, the bridge from Northern Laos and Myanmar officially opened on May 9th. It has been underway for 2½ years, and cost $26 mio to build. Read more.

Lao Officials spent state money to build roads to their own homes. Money from the state funds have been used to build roads to the private residences of Lao officials, instead of repairing main public roads. The road is to be built in Phakhao village. Read more.

New species and plants found in Laos and rest of SE Asia. Frogs, insects and even a crocodile is among the new species found in SE Asia's Greater Mekong Area since 1997. Last year alone 139 new species were identified. Read more.
