Here are some of the news making headlines in August, 2014.

The government wants more attention to Ebola outbreak. Passengers travelling to Laos from African countries where Ebola is on the rise will be met by medical teams in the Wattay International Airport and the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridges. Read more

Thai bank to open branch in Vientiane. CIMB Thai Bank opens a branch in Vientiane, making it easier for Lao people and foreigners to do everyday banking like money exchange and cash transfer. Read more

Increasing interest in Korean products. Korean companies see opportunities in Laos and are looking for more dealers. Energy drinks and cosmetic products are some of the Korean goods introduced on the Laos market last year which are performing well. Read more

Hmm, I was amazed to read that people from ebola infected areas cross Laos - I guess that means people from Africa :? I wonder what they're doing in Southeast Asia :think:
