Re: Anime Lao Dubbed

Watching TV programs in Lao is a great way to learn. However I'm not sure it's as efficient a method if it's dubbed.

Re: How to meet nice Laotian women online...?

There are plenty of asian dating services online. Allow me to give you an advice. When you contact the women online, always be honest and tell them what you are looking for and what you can offer them in return (in terms of financial security). This way, there will be no disappointments and misunder...

Re: Pregnant lao girl

Well, if this foreign guy has impregnated a Lao woman, to whom he is not married, then he has commited a crime according to Laos law. That said, I see no problem that he transfers money to her bank account each month to support her and the baby. Who would mind that? Hope that answers your question.

Re: What is the current salary for an English falang teacher?

If you work full time on a public school you should earn around $800 - $1200 a month. If you have a TEFL or TESOL you can expect to receive an even higher pay. It might not allow for a life in luxury, but surdenly you can live comfortably. I don't work as a teacher in Laos myself, but a friend of mi...

For those not familiar with the abbreviation ICT, it stands for information and communications technology ;) Sounds like an interesting job, but "unfortunately" I live in Thailand, so I don't think I qualify...

Re: Hi Everyone

Hi there Daniel!

There are plenty of cheap guest houses/hostels, even if your budget is below $10/night. Assuming you will arrive in Vientiane, check out the Funky Monkey Hostel, Hotel Khamvongsa or Lucky Backpackers. I found them on http://travelfish.org.

Re: Where is the cheapest place to buy property in Laos?

I'd say any place outside Vientiane is cheap really.

That said, you wouldn't want to buy property outside Vientiane just to save a few bucks. Unless you enjoy the pleasure of rural living of course ;-)

Re: When is low season in Laos?

The low season is from April - June where it's very hot. But low season is also from September - October which are months that may see lots of rain. I'm not sure it has that much influence on hotel prices though, as they are generally low all year. Don't worry about too many tourists either. This is...

Re: Has Laos changed over the years?

Across Borders with Dr Farish - Episode 2: China – Laos. The Chinese have always been good business men, no matter where in the world they settle. Looking at the positive outcome of this, it will bring more money to Laos one way or the other. Just wish it would not have to cause so much suffering :(
