Relocating - what are my options for buying property?

Postby boycie » Sun Jul 20, 2014 9:16 pm

Hi!

I am a man from Spain in my best age thinking of relocating to Laos some day. When time comes I would be interested in buying a house or appartment to live in; preferably country side. First of all I would like to know if this is even possible, and second what kind of expenses should I consider when buying property in Laos (taxes, legal fees and the like)?

From what I know, you as a foreigner is allowed to buy land if you either:
You will be able to own the house on the land though. However getting your name on the registry will set you back $5,000.

Alternaitvely you could invest in an appartment condo. This is less complicated as there is no land to consider.

Thanks a lot :D Which other fees should I be aware of, besides the one you mention with getting my name on the registry?

There are 5 additional expenses to add to the list if you want to register your property in Laos. They are listed over here: http://www.doingbusiness.org/data/explo ... -property/.
