To be honest I haven't stumbled upon this beer in any Danish supermarkets yet. But if the exports are not that good, I guess it doesn't matter much ;)

Word of the day is Guesthouse.

guesthouse - huanphak - ເຮືອນພັກ

If you're on a tight budget you may want to consider a guesthouse the next time you're looking for accommodation in Laos. The cheaper guesthouses will cost you around $5-10 a-night, and as they are popular among backpackers, it might be a good idea to book in advance.

Word of the day is Haircut

haircut - dtat phom - ຕັດຜົມ

It doesn't have to be expensive to visit a hairdresser. In Laos you will easily get a haircut for around 15,000 kip (=$2), usually including a nice neck and shoulder massage. So let your hair grow wild before you get on that next airplane to Vientiane ;)

Good to see the words. I will check all pages later, and hope to see more in the future...

book - nangseu - ຫນັງສື

You'll find several great free ebooks on bigbrothermouse to practice Lao for you and your children :)
And 'bpum' is also used for it I think?
brinch wrote:Yesterday's word was Wife, so what would be more natural than introducing the word Husband today :)

Today - phǔa - ຜົວ

Notice the rising tone.
I think you made a mistake here and had to put 'husband' there instead of 'today' (meu nii). :-)

Restaurant - raan aahaan - ຮ້ານອາຫານ

You may not find any michelin-starred restaurants in Laos, but you'll find plenty of eating places well above average in the larger cities.
As far as I know (and hear) it is haan aahaan in Lao and raan aahaan in Thai.

And I think the word for 'bird' is 'nok', not 'hok'.

But I am not Lao and make many mistakes in this language every day..

I agree with all of them, and have corrected this in the posts. Thanks for bringing this to my attention :-)

Today's word is Age.

age - ayu - ອາຍຸ

You pronounce it like the English "Are you" said fast and without any pause between the words.

On the subject of age, did you know that only about 4 percent of the Lao population are over the age of 65. Back in the 1950's only a little over 2 percent of the population was in that age group, so at least the numbers have doubled over the last 60 years.
