Translation from English to Lao

Postby AdrienW » Wed Mar 09, 2016 3:00 pm

Hi ! I would like to know how do you write "zip-line" in Lao ? I already ask some Lao friends but they couldn't tell... I'd really enjoy to find a good translation for this. If that doesn't exist in Lao language maybe another world meaning almost the same thing could do it.
Thanks a lot ! :)

I was told by a good friend of mine - who speaks Lao better than I do, that it would be fair to translate "zip line" into ສາຍໄຟຟ້າ, which reads "saayfaifaa". ສາຍ (saay) meaning cable/cord and (ໄຟຟ້າ) faifaa meaning electricity.

Hi, thanks a lot for your answers. ສາຍໄຟຟ້າ sounds quiet good but maybe it is more meaning electric cable than zipe line isn't it ? Maybe a combination of ສາຍ and the translation of pulley would be more correct ?
I'm just asking, obviously you know better than I but i really would like to have to best translation possible !

Thanks again,

PS : If someone else has other translations, go for it :) !

Well, I don't claim to be an expert in the Lao language, but I would say ສາຍໄຟຟ້າ (as Lucas suggested) sounds like a decent translation to me.

Hi, on of the Gibbon expérience (kind of trek organisé with zipline a during treks etc) guide gave me this translation for zip line ໂຫນສາຍສະລິ່ງ and told me the on you gave me is right but means more cable. What do you think about it ?

Thx again !
