Hi Everyone

Hi forum, I'm Daniel from England and will be arriving in Vientiane on Monday morning from Phnom Penh. I am an experienced English teacher with a TEFL so if anyone has any tips about where to start looking for teaching work that would be great. Also when I get off the bus after a 24 hour trip I really would like to go straight to a cheap guest house for $8-9 a night. Again any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and maybe see some of you next week.

Hi there Daniel!

There are plenty of cheap guest houses/hostels, even if your budget is below $10/night. Assuming you will arrive in Vientiane, check out the Funky Monkey Hostel, Hotel Khamvongsa or Lucky Backpackers. I found them on http://travelfish.org.

As johnbkk wrote, there are plenty of cheap guest houses all over Laos, which are within your budget.

Finding a job for an English native speaking person like yourself should not be that difficult, but you still have the hassle of getting a work permit/visa (which may not be as easy as in Thailand).

Anyway, welcome to the forum :-)
