Here are some of the news making headlines in April, 2015.

Bridge between Laos and Myanmar set to open. The bridge between Myanmar (Burma) and Laos is now finished and ready to use, but is expected to officially open for traffic in May 2015. Read more and check out this video.

Thai customs seize several tonnes of elephant ivory. More than 500 pieces of elephant ivory on the way from Kenya was discovered and seized by Thai customs. The ivory was believed to be destined for illegal trade in Laos. Read more.

BBC worker disapperared in Laos while on holiday. The 37 year old BBC worker Johanna Powell (37) has been reported missing on a trip along the Mekong River near the small village Pak Beng. A woman's body has been recovered from the river. Read more.
