Here are some of the news making headlines in September, 2014.

More than 1,400 have been infected with dengue virus. Dengue seems to be on the rise again, with Salavan province (in South) to be the most severely affected. And it's not only rural areas, because the Vientiane Captial has a few cases as well. Read more

Laos to increase number of visitors. More focus will be on growing tourism next year, and the plans are to reach more than 4 million visitors. More than 1,000 new tourist sites are on the way. Read more

Laos corporate tax rate dived to just 24%. After keeping the corporate tax rate at 35% over a couple of years, it went to 28% in 2012, and continued to dive to just 24% in 2013. Read more
