Re: The Buddha Theme Park is worth a visit

If you want a 360 degrees view of the Buddha Theme Park try this: 360 view.

I could spend hours there just looking at the beautiful buddha statues. It doesn't look to people crowded either... ;)

How about a taste of snake?

A snake meal doesn't get more fresh than this...probably tastes like chicken afterall :-)

People are indeed in touch with nature in these parts of the world...so very far from the frozen junk food we often buy in the West...

Okay, I saw this video on Youtube, where a woman cooks the national dish of Laos called Papaya salad. She adds raw crabs to the salad. Notice around 3 min 20 seconds in the video, you see the small crab is still moving :o I wonder how that tastes. Anyone ever tried this dish? Here's the video I'm ta...

Are credit cards accepted in Laos?

Are most major credit cards widely accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants in Laos nowadays? It's actually a friend of mine asking, and I thought this forum might be the best place to ask this question :-)

Average income for a Lao worker

Hi forum

Do any of you know what the average yearly income is of a Lao worker in recent years? Also, do you know how it compares to neighbouring Burma (Myanmar), Vietnam and Cambodia? I found some numbers myself, but they are rather dated (1992).

Re: How much of Laos is rainforest?

Thanks for the link. I read the numbers as about 10% being forest area, but I assume it's not all rainforest? Interesting to learn that almost 7% of the forest has been lost between 1990 and 2005.

Do Lao women care about equal rights?

In most Asian cultures women are still to some degree subservient to men. But in modern Thailand, due to tourism and financial development, women now want the same rights as their sisters in Europe and America. But what about Lao women? Are equal rights on their agenda for the future as well?

How much of Laos is rainforest?

I was discussing environmental issues with some of my friends the other day. When the subject touched on world rainforests it made me think of Laos. To be honest, it's something I frankly don't know a lot about. But maybe you can enlighten me  How much of Laos is covered by rainforest/jungle, ...

Fishing in Laos

I found this fun video showing how people fish in Laos :D It looks like you won't need a fishing license to fish in the lakes.

I wonder how many fish will be able to escape this big human fishing net...
