Re: How to get a Laos driver license

Here is a quote from section 9.3 in a report from Red Cross which might be of help to you (although it doesn't directly answer your questions): If an agreement does not exist between Laos and the country of issuance of the license, an international license is required. Foreigners must have an intern...

Re: Crossing to Laos from Cambodia

I wonder if the border patrol would have settled for kip in the case you "were out of" dollars :-) Anyway, it's good to know that one should keep a crisp buck or two in the pocket just in case...

Duck blood anyone?

I thought it was only in China they ate these weird things ;) But apparently eating duck blood is the norm in Laos. Check out this video, and let me know what you think:

Re: Sander from the Netherlands (and Laos)

Hi there Sander. I am curious to know what it's like to live and work in Laos from a Westerners perspective, because I have sometimes considered moving to Laos myself. Feel free to write a post about this some time if you like :-)

Dairy prices in Laos

Any of you locals who know what dairy products like milk, cheese, butter and yoghurt cost in Laos? I would assume they're relatively expensive, but I could be wrong ;)

Re: I want a Lao girlfriend. What are my odds?

I believe I know most of the do's and dont's already. Although I agree that learning the language would be very beneficial for me, I suppose it should indeed take a long time to become fluent. Do you speak the language already?

Re: I want a Lao girlfriend. What are my odds?

My dowry was very cheap at $300 which was returned to me after the ceremony. The biggest cost for me was time off work plus having to fly twice from Vientiane back to Australia for documents to be translated and stamped by the Lao Embassy in Canberra Hope things went well with your marriage after a...

Guide on how to find work as a teacher in Laos

Hi guys and girls I just stumbled over this guide on how to find a job as a teacher in Laos. It's written in a step by step fashion, from first considerations on working as a teacher in Laos, to booking flighs and accomodations. It even goes through preparations for the actual job interviews. But ha...

Re: Did you ever want to just quit your job and move to Laos

Hey Paul

I've been reading Through this thread, and what you did takes a lot of courage. I mean selling your stuff and moving away to Laos. I want to do the same really, although I don't have a house I need to sell first ;-) Can I ask how things went with your moving plans?
